Suffolk’s Feroze Khushi joined an elite group of players to have scored two career centuries in the National Counties T20 competition with a match-winning against Lincolnshire at Hadleigh.

The former Essex opener followed up 106 in his last innings against Cambridgeshire with 108 from just 62 balls to help Suffolk to a 25 runs victory in the first match of the double-header and  the first-ever county game staged at Hadleigh.

Khushi became only the fifth man to score two centuries in the competition joining former Lincolnshire batter Louis Kimber – now playing for Northamptonshire – ex-Dorset and Somerset batter Sam Young, Sam Dutton (Cumbria) and Dan Lincoln, who made his two centuries for Berkshire but who is now playing for Staffordshire.

Thanks to Khushi, Suffolk posted 181 for five before they restricted Lincolnshire to 156 for nine with Freddie Cloud and Tom Harper each taking three wickets. Pranav Pothula led the resistance with a half-century.

Suffolk then made it a double with a nine runs win in the second match of the day where seamer Cloud was their hero.

Lincolnshire needed 12 off the last over with six wickets intact and Nic Keast unbeaten on 90. But Keast managed just a single from the three balls he faced and Cloud dismissed Amartya Kaul and Sam Jarvis with the last two balls of the match.

Keast and Freddie Gosnell (52) shared a Lincolnshire record first wicket partnership of 101 after Alex Oxley (47 not out) and Ollie Burle (41 not out) had added 89 in an unbroken firth wicket stand of 89 for Suffolk.

Suffolk remain unbeaten on the pitch but lost the four points from two victories over Cambridgeshire due to playing an unregistered player.

There was a county record score for Cornwall’s John Moon in the first match of the day against Dorset at St Austell.

The Werrington batter pummelled 103 not out from just 39 balls – an innings that included ten sixes and six fours – which took Cornwall to 201 for four. Moon’s century was Cornwall’s second in the competition and surpassed the 101 that Alex Blake made against Dorset at Wimborne last year.

Moon’s innings overshadowed the very rare instance of a father and son playing together in county cricket with the St Just pair of Neil and Logan Curnow making important contributions to Cornwall’s 56 runs victory.

Neil, 44, made 41 in his first county appearance in eight years with 17-year-old Logan taking three for 35 to restrict Dorset to 145 for eight.

Moon followed up by making 52 in the second match of the day to help Cornwall to a seven wickets win which was secured with five overs to spare.

Slow left-armer Bryn Evans took four for 14 on his Cornwall debut and seamer Ben Ellis three for 21 to dismiss Dorset for 123 with nine balls of their allocation unused.

With Moon in such dominant mood it was never going to be enough to challenge Cornwall who moved into second place in the group ahead of Wiltshire on superior run rate.

Devon also completed a double over Herefordshire at Blundell’s School to go top of Group Four with Harry Passenger impressing with ball and bat.

Passenger took four for 35 with his off-breaks in the opening match to restrict Herefordshire to 123 for nine, which Devon overhauled with five wickets and two overs in hand thanks to a half-century from Ben Privett and 22 not out from Lawrence Walker in his first innings of the season.

Passenger then made 42 to help Devon to a four wickets victory with just four balls to spare in the second match after George Rhodes (46) and Charlie Bennett (46) had shared a third wicket partnership of 77 to take Herefordshire to a competitive 151 for six.

Solid batting down the order from Passenger, Cameron Kidd (39), Seb Linnitt (33) and Rhys Davies (21 not out) saw Devon home.

Cumbria were shot out for 65, their lowest-ever T20 total, as Shropshire completed an emphatic double at Cockermouth in Group One.

Cumbria had never before been dismissed for under 100 and they fell well short of a modest target of 137 in the opener.

Former Bedfordshire batter Joe Johnson made 69 in Shropshire’s 136 for four and Cumbria were then tied down by off-spinner Joe Stanley who took three for 12 in his four overs. Only Ben Walkden and Tom Fraine reached double figures as Cumbria were dismissed with five-and-a-half overs unused.

Cumbria fared better in the second match of the day but their total of 101 for eight proved inadequate as Shropshire cantered home by eight wickets with more than four overs to spare.

Matt Sempill (25) and Max Winskill (21) were the only Cumbria batters to reach 20 but Shropshire found batting much easier with Sahal Malvernkar (65 not out) and Johnson (35) opening with a partnership of 78 in 67 balls which put the game to bed.

Staffordshire stay top of Group One after they won both matches against Cheshire at Burslem.

Captain James Kettleborough led from the front for Staffordshire with 45 not out in the first match, which Staffordshire won by six wickets, and 72 in the second, which they won by 17 runs.

Liam Hurt, the former Leicestershire and Lancashire pace bowler, also had a productive day and finished with combined figures of seven for 53 over the two games.

Kettleborough shared a Staffordshire third wicket partnership of 126 with Dan Lincoln (75 not out) in the second match but Cheshire threatened to chase down a target of 191 thanks to a maiden T20 century from Sam Perry.

He reached his century from 54 balls but departed two balls later when he lifted Hurt to long-on to trigger a clatter of wickets, four going down for four runs in the last two overs.

Hertfordshire were unable to benefit from the presence of Hampshire all-rounder Andrew Neal as Norfolk won by 22 runs then three runs at Welwyn Garden City.

Neal bowled tidily, taking one for 19 in the opener and two for 24 in the second match, but he could not prevent Norfolk from making it three wins from their first four matches to go top of Group Two.

Norfolk posted identical scores – 181 for five – in each match with Ben Wilcox top-scoring both times – 75 in the opener and 73 in the second.

Alfie Cooper (43) and Sam Arthurton (43) also played important supporting innings in the first game with Hertfordshire responding with a series of promising cameos – five batters reached 20 but no-one made 30 – but no innings of substance.

In the second match Hamidullah Qadri got Norfolk motoring with 47 from 35 balls but Hertfordshire pushed them all the way with Archie Harrison (52) and Arjun Patel (49) adding 93 for the third wicket before falling in the space of six balls.

Neal made a breezy 20 to sustain the chase which left Hertfordshire needing 15 to win from the last two overs with five wickets in hand. But they could not find the boundary off seamer Andy Hanby or former Derbyshire and Kent off-spinner Qadri and fell just short.

Berkshire went top of Group Three with two comfortable wins over Wales NC at Panteg which gave their net run rate a healthy boost.

Wales laboured to 91 for nine in the opener despite 39 not out from Sami Khan and 23 from Alex Horton with spinners Euan Woods (two for eight) and Rhys Lewis (two for 11) doing most to stifle them.

Berkshire needed only 9.5 overs to complete an eight wickets win with Jonny Connell (26), Ben Salter (27) and Lewis (22 not out) making light work of the chase.

Salter followed up with 83 in the second match to take Berkshire to an imposing 203 for seven which Wales never threatened to challenge.

They were shot out for 96 - with 45 of those runs coming from Cameron Hemp – in 16.1 overs and beaten by 107 runs with off-spinners Woods (three for 24) and Sulaiman Akhtar (three for 21) doing the damage.

Berkshire are level on points with Bedfordshire, who sat out this round of matches, and Buckinghamshire who also wrapped up a double over Oxfordshire at Marlow.

Billy Dodds improved his career-best score twice in the day with 70 – his maiden T20 half-century – in the opener followed by 78 later in the day.

Dodds also returned career-best figures of three for 39 with his off-spin in the first match which Buckinghamshire won by 53 runs.

Hayden Rossouw top-scored for Oxfordshire with 41 out of 135nin that match and he again led the resistance in the second with 73 from 41 balls.

Oxfordshire would have needed to complete their record run chase to deny Buckinghamshire but they fell 30 short of their total of 210 for seven.

Dodds shared a third wicket partnership of 104 with Matt Pardoe (68 not out) who then added 73 in 34 balls for the fourth wicket with Josh Lincoln (47 not out).
