Supporting the Growth of Women’s Cricket
The National Counties Cricket Association is proud to play an active role in the continued growth and development of women’s cricket across England and Wales. As the game continues to expand at every level, we believe National Counties have an important role to play in providing opportunities, pathways and competitive environments for female players to thrive.
In recent years, the NCCA has taken significant steps to strengthen the women’s game within our structure. Through initiatives such as representative programmes and international competition opportunities, we have supported talented players in showcasing their abilities on a wider stage. Our England XI women’s team has competed in the European Cricket Championship, helping to highlight the quality of players emerging from National Counties and providing a platform for them to perform in front of global audiences.
Beyond representative cricket, the NCCA is committed to creating meaningful pathways for female cricketers. Programmes such as the Challengers initiative have helped provide high-performance opportunities for both men and women, allowing players to test themselves against strong Tier 1 opposition and develop their skills in professional environments.
We are equally passionate about supporting the grassroots game. National Counties and county boards continue to work hard to grow participation among women and girls, building stronger links between recreational cricket and the performance pathway. By supporting development programmes, coaching opportunities and competitive structures, we aim to inspire the next generation of players and ensure that women’s cricket continues to flourish in every corner of the National Counties network.
Looking ahead, the NCCA remains committed to playing its part in the wider growth of women’s cricket in England and Wales. With the domestic women’s structure evolving we are determined to ensure National Counties continue to provide opportunities for talented players, coaches and volunteers within the women’s game.
Women’s cricket is one of the fastest-growing areas of the sport, and the NCCA is excited to support its development for many years to come.
