Dorset CCC v Wiltshire CCC
NCCA T20
Wimborne CC, The Leaze
Sunday 21st June 2026 at 11:00am
Game 1
On another scorching hot day Wiltshire returned to T20 action against neighbours Dorset at the Leaze, home of Wimborne CC. Wiltshire won the toss for game one and chose to field first. In the very first over Dorset captain and danger man Will Tripcony was superbly run out thanks to a direct hit from Tom Cheater. The powerplay overs (1-6) saw the score advance to 61 for 2 with Finn Gordon caught on the boundary by Cyrus Shafi from the bowling of Stan Brown. Ben Rogers (41) was the mainstay of the Dorset innings, but when he was out soon after Dylan Church, the innings began to crumble alarmingly. The Wadworth Man of the Day, Charan Chahal bowled both and in all bowled a miserly spell of four overs for just twelve runs. The rest of the wickets fell cheaply with three falling to Archie Fairfax-Ross (3 for 25) one to a piece of sharp wicket-keeping as Jake Goodwin stumped Joe Weld: one LBW and the third an impressive caught and bowled. The other three fell to captain Ed Young (3 for 9) with one bowled and the other two to catches by Archie Pascoe and Stan Brown. An excellent bowling and fielding display saw Dorset finally dismissed for just 106 with ten balls to spare.
The Wiltshire reply started strongly with Tom Cheater in fine form striking 30 from just thirteen balls until adjudged LBW to Alfie Appleby Ingram. Jake Goodwin added fourteen at a run a ball until caught by Will Tripcony from the bowling of Connor Smith. Will Naish hit thirty from twenty balls until he was bowled by Appleby Ingram. Finn Gordon took the wicket of Cyrus Shafi when he was caught by Chesterman, but thereafter Ed Young (16 not out) and promising youngster Olli Brown (13 not out) took Wiltshire comfortably to their target in just 14.4 overs with 32 balls to spare.
