Rory Mustard will become the third member of his family to play for Northumberland when he makes his debut in the NCCA Cluberly Championship Eastern Division One opener against Suffolk at Bury St Edmunds on Sunday.
Mustard’s elder brother Haydon, who is on Durham’s staff, has already played for Northumberland this season and their father Phil finished his career with the county in 2019 after winning white ball international honours with England, captaining Durham and playing for Gloucestershire in a 15-year first-class career.
Phil is now on the England and Wales Cricket Board’s National Panel of umpires and officiated in Northumberland’s National Counties T20 double-header at South Northumberland last Sunday.
Rory, 17 , is a product of Northumberland’s youth system and plays his club cricket at Benwell Hill. He is a student at Repton School in Derbyshire and has been playing for Warwickshire Under-18s this season.
