England XI Squad Named Ahead of ECC-W 2024

Six members of the England XI will be back to help the side defend their European T10 Women’s Championship title at the Cartama Oval near Malaga later this month.

England XI won the inaugural tournament 12 months ago when they beat Netherlands by 17 runs in the final on the Costa del Sol.

Chiara Green – who captained the side to victory last year - Beth Gammon, Libby Thomas, Maddie Ward – already an England Under-19 international - Ria Fackrell and The Blaze's former Staffordshire fast bowler Amy Wheeler will be returning to Spain as part of the England XI squad which will be coached by former Kent seamer Jennifer Jackson.

England XI will again be attempting to emulate their male counterparts who retained the European Men’s T10 Championship title at the Cartama Oval in October, the third time they had won the competition in four years.

“I am really looking forward to the tournament ahead. It will be a great opportunity for these talented players to put their skills to the test in a different format and against some strong nations,” Jackson said.

“The girls within this group are some of the best up-and-coming players in the country and this tournament adds another strand to their development as players, bridging the gap between domestic and professional cricket.

“Within the team we have players from a range of counties with a range of experience, from those with international World Cup honours to those graduating from the regional Academy programme.

“I am sure that each player will come away from the tournament with a renewed passion for the sport and the motivation to continue their journey to professionalism.

“I am excited to be part of the journey with these players and can’t wait to sit back and watch them put on a great show.”

The England XI will again feature some of the country’s exciting emerging players including Jasmine Westley, who is a cousin of Essex men’s captain and former England batter Tom Westley and Lancashire’s Tilly Kesteven and Gloucestershire’s Caitlin Belcher who were previously with Cumbria and Shropshire respectively.

This year’s competition has doubled in size with five nations – hosts Spain, Austria, Germany, Jersey and Czech Republic – contesting the Challenger competition between December 9 and 14 with England XI competing in the Premier Division alongside Ireland, Scotland, Netherlands and Italy from December 15-20.

England XI will face Netherlands in a re-match of last year’s final in the Premier Division opener on December 15 (8.35am) followed by Scotland at 2.35pm.

They will then play Ireland on December 16 (12.35pm), Scotland (8.35am) and Italy (2.35pm) on December 17, Ireland on December 18 (10.35am) and Italy (8.35am) and Netherlands (2.35pm) on December 19.

The final is on December 20 at 2.35pm preceded by an eliminator at 8.35am and a qualifier at 11.35am. There is a reserve day on December 21 in case weather disrupts Finals Day.

England XI have also secured Kibra, a leading brand in premium high-performance activewear, as their headline sponsor for the tournament.

Built on the principle of ‘Different but Beautiful’, Kibra’s designs empower women to embrace their individuality, express confidence, and connect with a global sisterhood. This sponsorship is more than a partnership—it is a shared commitment to inspiring women to excel both on and off the field.

“We're excited to be supported by Kibra for this upcoming tournament. It's important for female athletes to feel comfortable and confident, and with Kibra's ethos of empowerment it is a great match,” said Jackson.

“We look forward to wearing Kibra's activewear as we prepare to excel in the upcoming tournament..”
