National Counties Name Side To Play MCC

National Counties XI will warm-up for their defence of the European Championship by playing MCC in a 50-overs contest at Banbury on Tuesday August 9 (11am).

National Counties, who represented England, triumphed in the T10 European Championship last October and will return to the Cartama Oval in Malaga to defend their title in October.

The European Championship will run from September 12 to October 14 and will involve 21 nations. As defending champions, National Counties will enter this year’s tournament in the last week of the competition, starting on October 10.

Dan Lincoln, who captained the side to victory last season, will lead National Counties against MCC having guided Berkshire into the final of the National Counties Trophy for a third successive season with victory over Dorset in Sunday’s semi-final at Finchampstead.

Three more members of the side – Arthur Godsal, Sam Pearce and Andy Rishton – were also part of last year’s European title-winning squad.

Former Essex batter Kishen Velani is among the newcomers who will face MCC in the annual showpiece fixture.
