Woakes Plays Champion Role in Unlikely Victory

Chris Woakes top scored with 84no as England chased down an unlikely target of 277 on the fourth day at Old Trafford.

Having taken 2 wickets in each innings, the former Herefordshire man produced a stunning innings, in partnership predominantly with Jos Buttler (75) to see England home under the most immense pressure against Pakistan’s exciting pace and spin attack. The game had looked beyond England when they slumped to 117/5.

Woakes again showed what a world class all-rounder he is, scoring 103 runs in the game, and taking 4 wickets for 53 runs across the two Pakistan innings.

The NCCA salute another phenomenal effort from one of their graduates.
