In the current Test and ODI squad, three of the frontline spinners have come through the ranks of NCCA cricket. Dominic Bess, Jack Leach and Matty Parkinson have all benefitted from time spent with their local National Counties Cricket side in order to work on their craft – and this experience has clearly stood the trio in good stead.
Bess represented Devon, Leach was involved at Dorset and Parkinson played for Staffordshire – all at times when the young spinners needed playing experience against high quality adults.
With former Wiltshire player and left-arm spinner Liam Dawson also representing England at Test and ODI level in recent years, the NCCA has certainly played its role in supporting the development of some of the nations most talented tweakers.
