Rising Stars of Shropshire

Rising Stars of Shropshire

Ben Parker is a tall young fast bowler, and has already played 2nd X1 cricket for Worcester, as well as representing Worfield CC in league cricket. Having come through the youth ranks at Shropshire, he has been involved in the Emerging Player Programme and the Academy at the NCCA side. He troubles batsmen with his pace, bounce and accuracy and will be looking to continue to hone these skills in the coming year.

Ben Lees is a promising wicket-keeper and right-handed top order batsman. He has come through the age groups at Shropshire before catching the eye of Worcestershire, who invited him to train with their academy. Ben made his senior NCCA debut for Shropshire in the T20 victory over Herefordshire in 2019. A good player of spin bowling, he has shown a desire to improve his batting, fitness and wicket-keeping which will allow him to get the most out of his potential.

Xavier Clarke is a right-handed top order batsman and leg spinner. He made his senior NCCA Championship debut for Shropshire in 2019 against Cornwall at Bridgnorth. In a subsequent Championship match against Cheshire at Nantwich, he scored half centuries in each innings, underlining his potential with the bat. Younger brother of Nottinghamshire and England Lions batsman Joe, Xavier has been involved in the Shropshire age groups and Worcestershire’s satellite academy, as well as representing the ‘Best of Bunbury’s’ after a successful tournament for Midlands U15s in 2016.
