Matt Parkinson picked for England 30-man squad

One of the most exciting young leg spinners in the game right now, Matt Parkinson played for (NCCA) county cricket side Staffordshire from 2014-2016. A hugely popular member of any squad, ‘Parky’ made his first class debut for Lancashire in 2017 taking 5/49 in the first innings against Warwickshire.

He made his T20 Blast debut the same summer, and was picked in the England Lions squad to tour the West indies the following winter. A man of the match performance against West Indies ‘A’ in the final 50-over match of the series cemented him as ‘one to watch’ for future international honours.

Sure enough, in November 2019 Parkinson made his full T20 International debut against New Zealand, and then his ODI international debut against South Africa in February 2020.

Inclusion in the Test squad for the series against Sri Lanka in the summer of 2020, as well as the 30-man squad for the upcoming Test matches bodes well for another NCCA success story.
