Herefordshire were undone by a devastating over from Worcestershire’s Joe Leach which decided the last of this season’s Showcase fixtures at New Road on Thursday.
Herefordshire appeared handily placed at 121 for four but that quickly became 122 for seven when three wickets went down in five balls.
Leach, who began his career with Shropshire, had Cameron Smith caught behind for 20, David Ball was run out by Jacques Banton and Ian Bullock also went for a second ball duck, bowled by Leach.
Herefordshire captain Matt Pardoe held the innings together with 46 against his former county which lifted them to 191 all out.
Worcestershire wobbled at 23 for two at the start of their chase with James Rudge accounting for Jack Haynes, who played for Herefordshire in 2019, and Brett D’Oliveira.
But Tom Fell and Josh Dell then plundered 125 in 17 overs to dash any hopes Herefordshire might have had of emulating Cornwall and Wales NC, who beat first-class opposition on Tuesday.
Dell, another former Herefordshire player, made 66 from 56 balls before he became Rudge’s third victim.
Fell was unbeaten on 96 from 92 balls when Worcestershire completed their chase with more than 21 overs to spare.
Worcester: Herefordshire 191 (Matt Pardoe 46), Worcestershire 192-3 (Tom Fell 96 not out, Josh Dell 66). Worcestershire won by seven wickets.
