Hailing from Sidmouth, the off-spinning all-rounder came through the age groups at the NCCA county side, before joining Somerset’s academy.
Making his first class Championship debut in 2016 against Warwickshire, he claimed the wickets of none other than Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott, finishing with impressive figures of 6/28 in the innings, 8/59 for the match.
England U19 and England Lions honours followed, before a Test debut against Pakistan in 2018. Currently playing in the first Test of 2020 against the West Indies at the Ageas Bowl, Bess will hope to add to his wicket and run tally.
